Band and live recording
You play together in the live room while we capture drums, amps and keys separately — sightlines intact and an engineer watching levels and takes.

Band and live recording at Monoxyleorix is for groups who want to capture a song or a set the way it feels on stage: everyone plays at once, not a one-instrument-at-a-time workflow unless you book that later. The live room is about 28 m²; vocalists can stand in the booth or with the band in the room depending on leakage and vibe.
We host rock, indie, funk, jazz combos and other line-ups up to 5 musicians including vocals. After tracking you can mix with us via mixing or master an external mix through mastering. For time and money planning see our band budget guide.
Process
Pre-call
Send setlist, tempos and a rough demo. We discuss positions, amp gobos and how many hours you realistically need.
Soundcheck
Mic the kit, DI bass and keys, mike guitars or capture amp plus DI. Headphone mixes for anyone on click or guide.
Live passes
Full band takes first; then targeted punch-ins while others stay silent or leave the room.
Multitrack handoff
Labelled tracks per session, rough mix for home review, archive per terms (24 months).
Live room setup
The 28 m² live room fits drum kit, bass amp, guitar cab and keys without players colliding. Gobos and rugs tame early reflections; the vocal booth (6 m²) and control room (14 m²) stay isolated so vocals can stay dry while the band keeps energy in the room.
Monoxyleorix B.V. runs 3 recording spaces at Grote Bickersstraat 74, 1013 KS Amsterdam. Tram 13 (Westerdok stop) and bus 22 (Haarlemmer Houttuinen stop) are within walking distance. From Amsterdam Centraal station it is about a twelve-minute walk via Haarlemmer Houttuinen and Grote Bickersstraat. No private parking; paid street parking or Q-Park Centrale Markt. Hours: Tuesday to Friday 10:00–19:00, Saturday 10:00–17:00. Closed Monday and Sunday; evening sessions on request. Heavy load-in — agree a slot via contact.
Together vs overdubs
The point is the shared moment: groove and interaction stay intact. After live passes we sometimes capture a solo or vocal overdub in booth or room — still inside the same booking if time allows.
If you prefer pure overdub per instrument, that works too but expect more hours than one live day. External producers may sit in control; the house engineer keeps final say on gain staging and file naming.
Gear and backline
Bring your guitars, bass, pedals and snare when you can — familiar tone saves soundcheck. A basic drum kit is usually ready; tune heads at home where possible. Keys players supply module or laptop; we provide DI and monitoring.
We mic for later mixing: enough spots for control, no heavy compression on input. 12 preamps leave headroom for loud guitars and dynamic drums without ruined takes.
Line-up limits and crew
Youth bands, semi-pro acts demoing an EP, cover bands with one original, jazz quartets: the live room suits anyone who wants to play together. Maximum 5 players at once including singer — bigger gets awkward in our footprint.
Daan Meijer usually runs live sessions; Sophie van der Berg can take producer decisions when arrangement calls for it. Iris Nakamura does not mix or master during tracking unless booked separately afterward.
Prep and schedule
Rehearse with click if you want it in studio. Send Drive or WeTransfer demos at least 1 business day ahead so we can draft an input list. The budget guide helps decide hour, multi-hour or full-day booking.
See terms and conditions for 40% deposit and 7-day cancellation. Unsure on time? Book a full day rather than stopping mid-flow — extra hours are possible but momentum suffers.
What you receive
Default delivery is multitrack WAV per session, 24-bit / 48 kHz, clearly named (e.g. drums OH L, bass DI, gtr SM57). A rough stereo mix helps judge punch-ins at home. No Pro Tools session? Ask for stem ZIP — we avoid lock-in where we can.
Storage 24 months then deletion per privacy policy. Mix and master are not included. Handing stems to an external mixer? See stem delivery guide.
Rates
Band studio hour: €125 incl. VAT (€103.31 excl.). Full eight-hour day: €920 incl. VAT. Band tracking uses more mics and setup than solo vocals, so hourly rates sit above vocal recording.
| Block | Incl. VAT | Note |

Outside scope
Extra backline hire beyond standard kit, session musicians, extended production after tracking, video shoots, and mixing/mastering sit outside Band and live recording. We do not insure instruments in transit — arrange that yourselves.
Members under 16 follow the same supervision rules as other services; state ages when booking. Damage to studio mics from misuse may be charged per terms — treat stands normally.

FAQ
How many songs fit in one day?
With a prepared band and tight setlist, three to five songs live plus fixes is realistic. More titles often need a second day or strict priorities — discuss via budget guide.
Can we bring our own engineer?
One external engineer in control after agreement, following our safety and gain rules. Base studio rate remains Monoxyleorix; no BYO discount unless written otherwise.
Is the singer isolated?
Optional in the 6 m² booth for dry vocals, or in the room for vibe. Leakage becomes part of the character — choose at soundcheck.
What if a member is ill?
Tell us early. Cancel more than 7 days ahead: free move per terms. Inside that window deposit may be forfeited or shifted — not automatic refund.
Can we mix right after tracking?
Mixing is separate (mixing, from €185 per song). Schedule mix after tracking; Iris Nakamura often slots mix within days of stem delivery.
